Abstract

Objective:To explore the influence of Modified Electroconvulsive Therapy(MECT) on cognition and Endocrine Hormone Levels(EHL).Methods:Fifteen patients with schizophrenia or major depression were recruited in the current study. The P300 and EHL were examined in all subjects before treatment and after a 2-week treatment with MECT in those patients. Results: The wave amplitudes of P2,N2,P3 was significantly higher in posttreatment group than that of pretreatment. There was only T3 that was significant lower in posttreatment group than that of pretreatment. Conclusions: MECT can improve patient attention, thinking, judgments, and the ability to integrate speech and has little impact on the EHL of patient.
