A control study on Citalopram and Buspirone in the treatment of elderly depression

Abstract

Objective:To study the efficacy and safety of Citalopram combined with Buspirone in the treatment of elderly depression.Methods:90 patients were randomly assigned to two groups: Research group,Citalopram combined with Buspirone;Cotrol grounp,Citalopram only.For 8 weeks,Hamittion depression Sales(HAMD)、 Hamittion Anxiety Sales(HAMA) and treatment emergent Symptams Scale(TESS)were evaluate the clinical efficacy and safely.Results: The Score of HAMD and HAMA reduced significantly in the research group in the2nd week end.(P0.01),in 4、6、8week the two groups were significant difference(P0.01)..Side effects of the research group were less than the control group,between the two groups was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusions: Citalopram combined with Buspirone in the treatment of elderly depression is effect and safe.Side effects were less.Buspiron may augment the treatment effect of depression with anxiety.
