Abstract

Objective:To investigate the application and protection value of low-dose CT scanning in brain of premature infant.Methods:40 cases with CT scanning in head were collected and randomly divided into two groups averagely. The tube current was 50mAs for low dose scanning and 250 mAs for conventional dose. The CT value of region of interesting(ROI) and standard deviation (SD) were measured in the region of left basal ganglia. The noise, image quality, weighted CT dose index (CTDIw) and dose length product(DLP) were evaluated in two different dose groups. Results: ① The difference of SD value between two groups had statistical significance( t =8.503; P =0.000), and the 50mAs group increased image noise;② The image quality of two groups was evaluated by two doctors using blind method. The result was 95 percent low dose image was fully satisfied in diagnosis, which was no significant difference with standard dose image;③ The radiation dose in 50mAs group reduced 80% compared with the conventional group, the CTDIw and DLP of 50mAs were only 20.1% and 20.0% of 250mAs's.Conclusion:The low dose CT scanning can obviously reduce radiation dose in head of premature infant, though the image quality had some decrease, but it did not influence the diagnosis and had apparent clinical significance.
