Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of transcatheter arterial embolization in treating postpartum hematorrhea. Methods 35 cases of acute postpartum hemorrhage were included in the study, and bleeding volume ranged from 1500ml to 3600ml (mean exceed 2000ml). Gelatin sponge were injected to embolize the target artery after the hemorrhagic site were found by DSA.?Results Uterine artery embolization was successful in controlling hemorrhage in 33 cases. In two cases, the UAE was unsuccessful and required ovarian artery embolism to control hemorrhage. No recurrent hemorrhage was observed in 6-month follow-up. Conclusion Artery embolotherapy is a safe and effective method for treatment of PPH without severe complication.
