Abstract

Objective To find a convenient and rapid analyzer for determination of formaldehyde concentrations in indoor air. Methods The concentrations of formaldehyde were determined using the phenol reagent method and 4160-type portable formaldehyde analyzer (supplied by INTERSCAN) in site, and the results were tested by matched data t-test. Results The results showed that there was no significant difference in formaldehyde concentrations determined by both methods (at low concentration: J=0.40J0.05(5)=2.571, P0.05; medium concentration: t=0.83, P0.05; high concentration: t=0.67, P0.05), The regression equation was y=0.963 8x+0.012 35, with correlation coefficient of 0.995 0. Conclusion The 4160-type formaldehyde analyzer could be used for determination of formaldehyde in public places and other indoor air.
