Ouyang Xiu's Seven-character Poems and Its Poetic Meaning

Ouyang Xiu,a poet who writes higher proportion of seven-character poems in the poets of innovation of poetry and prose,writes 225 seven-character poems in all,which account for a quarter of his poetic total.The contents of his seven-character poems mostly concern leisure and exquisite feelings in daily life;artistically,his seven-character poems mainly embody the characteristics: simplicity,fluency and nature,integrate the merit of Dufu's seven-character poems,Late-Tang poem style and seven-character poems of Xikun style,develop seven-character poems of Bai style created by Wang Yu-cheng,etc.in the Early Song Dynasty,and influence later poets such as Su Zhe,Zhang Lei,etc.,finaly establishing the style of seven-character poems with simplicity,ease and grace in the Northern Song Dynasty.Ouyang Xiu's style of seven-character poems is closely related to his poetics thought,reflecting the cognition and idea of poets of innovation of poetry and prose in prosody.
