Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of CT-guided ozone ablation on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. Methods Forty-six patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were extradiscally and intradiscally injected with 25 and 50 μg·mg-1 medical ozone(5~10 mL) under CT guidance, respectively. Results All the 46 patients(53 intervertebral discs) underwent successful puncture without serious complications. After 3 months of follow-up,results were excellent in 19 patients, good in 16,fair in 8 and poor in 3,with an excellent and good rate of 76.1%.After 6 months of follow-up,results were excellent in 21 patients, good in 18,fair in 5 and poor in 2,with an excellent and good rate of 84.8%.Conclusion CT-guided ozone ablation is a safe, effective and minimally invasive method and is worthy of popularization in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.
