Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy and side ef fe cts of combined therapy with didanosine, stavudine and nevirapine in AIDS patient s.Methods Eight patients with AIDS were treated by combination of didanosine, stavudine and nevirapine. All cases were followed up for 6 months. The plasma HIV-1 RNA level and CD 4 T cell counts of the patients were measured a t the beginning of treatment and the end of the first, third and sixth month.Adve rse events were monitored in all of 8 patients. Results The level of plasma HIV-1 RNA was significantly decrea sed( P 0.001),and CD 4 cell counts were significantly increased( P =0.014) in all patients. The adverse effects of the three kinds of drugs were mild durin g the first 6-months.Conclusions During the first 6-months,8 patients who received combined therapy of didanosine, stavudine and nevirapine were well tolerated, and got rapid immunological and antiviral response.
