Abstract

The synthesis of diisopenty maleate with isopentanol and maleic anhydride as reactants and ferric chloride hexahydrate as catalyst have been studied. The yield of the ester could reach 95 3% under amount of substance ratio of maleic anhydride, isopentyl alcohol and ferric chloride are 1∶4∶0 11,reflused and water segregated for 60 min.
