Abstract

Presently the subject education is faced with the challenge of whether its existence is rational. The premise to meet this challenge is to view the subject education from the perspective of cultural philosophy, according to which, the subject education is a new cultural type suiting the needs of industrial society. The study of subject education should persist in the three value orientations: science, democracy and freedom embodied in the subject education. New possibility of developing subject education will be found if we can criticize reasonably and reconstruct the traditional culture and daily life, instrument rationality and school institution culture, popular culture and student culture.
