Abstract

Objective To investigate the drinking water quality in rural areas of Handan, and provide scientific basis for selection of water resources and sites, as well as plan of supervision and monitoring of centralized water supply projects. Methods The water quality monitoring results of 400 rural centralized water supply projects in Handan were analyzed and evaluated in accordance withStandard examination methods for drinking water( GB / T 5750-2006) andStandards for drinking water quality( GB 5749-2006). Results The monitoring results of water quality showed that the overall passing rate of water samples from centralized water supply was 65% in rural areas of Handan in the whole year. The passing rate of finished water was obviously higher than that of tap water. The passing rates of finished water and tap water had no significant difference between dry and wet season. Microbial indicators were the major indicators which exceeded the standard. The overall passing rate of centralized water supply projects in rural areas was 40%. Conclusion Centralized water supply was the main way of rural areas in Handan. Microbial indicators were the main reason why the passing rate of centralized water supply in rural areas was at a low level. The disinfection of drinking water in rural areas should be paid more attention.
