Abstract
It is argued that congestive heart failure results from the heart yin insufficiency and heart yang exhaustion by exogenous factors on the basis of weak constitution;its pathogenesis is qi and yang deficiency, blood stasis and water fluid retention. Thus the clinical treatment should be to supplement qi and warm yang, remove water fluid, nourish yin and activate blood flow. Moreover, the specific causes should be differentiated and handled in consideration of the heart, lungs and kidneys.
