Abstract
Objective To probe a effective way of training the motor function for severe stroke patients in order to increase the quality of life of them. Methods The paper observed the results of intensive training for 42 relative younger severe stroke patients based on the measurements of motor function, balance, walk and ADL.The intensive training included the combination of basic training and applied training approaches. They lasted 3 months more or less. Results 27 cases recovered the abilities of walk with or without cane. The mean ADL was greatly increased. Therefore , the quality of life is increased. However, the function of arm and hand was not improved by the methods for most of the patients. It is still a problem. Conclusion Intensive training is a valuable method for motor function improvement and ADL independence of severe stroke patients.
