Abstract
The solubilities of ferulic acid and tetramethylpyrazine in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) were measured by a dynamic method. The experimental results show that the solubilities (mole fraction) of ferulic acid and tetramethylpyrazin in SC-CO2 are from 6.936×10?7 to 26.527×10?7 and from 0.010 to 0.131, respectively. The solubilities of ferulic acid increase with increasing pressure at constant temperatures. The effect of temperature on the solubility of ferulic acid shows the crossover pressure behavior. However, the solubilities of tetramethylpyrazine do not show this behavior in the investigated ranges. The experimental solubility data of ferulic acid and tetramethylpyrazine were correlated by Chrastil equation, and the average absolute relative deviations (AARDs) are 12.92% and 4.23% respectively.
