Abstract

In the presence dilute hydrochloric acid and Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅲ) reacts with diantipyrylphenyl ethylenemethane to form a red compound which,in 100℃ water baths, has molar absorptivity of 1.44×10 6 L·mol -1 ·cm -1 at 540nm abiding Beer's law in the range of 0.04~0.8μg Fe(Ⅲ)/25ml.The method has been applied to the determination of trace Fe(Ⅲ) in natural water with reliable results.
