The function of Nursing Safety Calendar in the dynamic monitoring of nursing adverse events in clinical units and nursing department

Objective To explore the role of Nursing Safety Calendar in the management of nursing adverse events.Methods The Nursing Safety Calendar was established in each unit and the records were reviewed every day.In case of nursing adverse events,the causes were analyzed based on root cause analysis,and the improvement measures were developed and implemented.Results One year after implementation of the Nursing Safety Calendar,the number of nursing adverse events decreased from 262 cases to 225 cases,and the rate of adverse events dropped from 1.15 percent to 0.93 percent(χ2=5.749,P=0.016).Conclusions The use of Nursing Safety Calendar can enhance the initiative of adverse event management by nursing department,improve nurses' adverse events management awareness in the clinical units,promote the quality of nursing continuously and ensure patient safety.
