Significance of detecting P16 protein expression in diagnosing of breast cancer

Abstract
[Objective] To study the significance of P16 expression of breast cancer.[Method] Immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of P16 in 65 cases of breast cancer,including 21 cases with and 44 cases without lymphnodo metastasis,20 cases of breast atypical hyperplasia and 20 cases of breast fibroadenoma.[Results] The positive expression rates of P16 protein in breast cancer,breast atypical hyperplasia and breast fibroadenoma groups were 49%,50% and 85% respectively.There was significant difference between breast cancer or breast atypical hyperplasia and breast fibroadenoma(P0.05).The positve rates p16 expresstion in cases with and without lymph nodometastasis were 69% and 36% respectively(P0.05).[Conclusion] Detection of p16 may be useful in diagnosis of breast cancer.Protein P16 play an important role in the breast carcinogenesis.
