Interpreting the "Process" of Transitivity in the Comparison of "Viewing Language as a Process"

Abstract

Process is a concept used by M.A.K.Halliday to describe transitivity system in Systemic-Functional Grammar.In his description Halliday didn't give a specific explanation to this concept.Usually learners can gain a deep impression of this concept when studying and applying transitivity system in discourse analysis,but seldom clarify its meaning.This paper,in the comparative study with Japanese linguist,Tokieda Motoki's Viewing language as a Process,interprets multiple meanings entailed in process,in order to deepen our research of Systematic Functional Grammar and our understanding of Halliday's language view.
