Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of combined acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for genual osteoarthritis and seek an optimal way to treat genual osteoarthritis. Methods One hundred and fifty-eight patients with genual osteoarthritis were allocated, using a random number table, to a treatment group of 92 cases and a control group of 66 cases. The treatment group received pricking bloodletting plus warm needling and the control group, warm needling. Results After two courses of treatment(10 days as one course), of the treatment group, marked effectiveness occurred in 89 cases, effectiveness in 3 cases and ineffectiveness in 0 cases, with a total efficacy rate of 100% and of the control group, marked effectiveness occurred in 22 cases, effectiveness in 30 cases and ineffectiveness in 14 cases, with a total efficacy rate of 78.8%.There were statistically significant differences in the marked efficacy rate and the total efficacy rate between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion Pricking bloodletting plus warm needling has a better therapeutic effect on genual osteoarthritis.
