Abstract
Unsymmetrical steel reinforced concrete beam under bending was studied experimentally in this paper.Structural behaviours of the beam under monotonic load,such as loading capacity,failure mode and strain distribution,were determined by bending tests on two specimens. Finite element analysis model was set up for the unsymmetrical steel reinforced concrete beam. The loading capacity of the beam under bending obtained by finite element analysis agreed well with test results,which verified the rationality of the finite element method. Practical design method was presented for the unsymmetrical steel reinforced concrete beam. It was proved that the practical design method can give consistent loading capacity of bending for the practical design of unsymmetrical steel reinforced concrete beams.
