Abstract
Since the Xiaolangdi reservoir has a sediment capacity of 7.25 billion m 3 and can individually fulfill the regulation functions of d/s comprehensive utilization, the Sanmenxia reservoir's functions can be changed as follows. 1) Reservoir sediment ejection, flood control and ice-jam prevention are its main functions provided that Xi'an's safety is ensured; 2) Generation operation should be under the precondition of no effect on the water level at Tongguan and strive to resume the level to that before construction of the Sanmenxia reservoir.
