Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the relationship between GST-π expression and clinicopathologic parameters and overall survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).METHODS:A total of 109 cases of untreated patients and 11 cases of normal tissue were obtained by surgical resection.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of GST-π on tissue microarray.RESULTS:The positive expression of GST-π was 62.4% in NSCLC cancer tissues and 9.1% in normal tissues,χ2=9.535,P=0.002.The positive expression of GST-π was significantly higher in female, adenocarcinoma and non-smoker,χ2 were 0.749,3.879 and 4.898,respectively;P were 0.005,0.049 and 0.027,respectively.But there was no correlation between expression of GST-π and age, differentiation grade, clinical stage and lymph nodes metastasis,P0.05.Multivariate analysis using Cox regression revealed that clinical stage was an independent prognosis factor(P=0.000,95%CI: 1.625-3.893).CONCLUSION:The GST-π level probably has no prognostic value for the overall survival of the patients.
