Abstract
Objective To compare the sensitivity of serum cystatin C(CYC) with serum creatinine(SCr) and blood urea in children with renal disease and investigate the CYC level in healthy children during different stages of diseases. Methods Sixty-four children with renal diseases were collected in this study. Serum CYC was measured by microparticle enhanced nephelometry,serum SCr and urea were measured by enzyme-analysis method. The results were compared with regard to their differences in sensitivity. Meanwhile, 106 healthy children aged from 0 to 14 years old were also studied as normal controls to determine the normal range of CYC. Results The sensitivity of CYC in patient group was 59.4%(38/64),which was higher than that of both SCr (25.0%, 16/64) and urea (12.5%,8/64) (P0.01).Conclusion CYC is more sensitive than SCr and Urea in the early diagnosis of renal disease.
