Abstract

The Seedling cultivation of the open pollinated seeds of 16 Cinnamomum camphora families was done with the complete random block design. The datums of height, ground diameter and crown width of annual seedlings were analyzed by use of variance analysis, heritability evaluation and correlation analysis. The results showed that the differences in height and diameter were significant among families. It indicated that the improvement potential was notable.According to the results of correlation analysis, significant positive correlations were found between the seedling height and the seedling ground diameter. The heritability of height and diameter was higher, displaying a strong additive genetic degree. The characters of seedling height and seedling ground diameter could be regarded as the most important indexes for selection.Four fast-growing families were selected for further assessment.
