Abstract
Pressure plate apparatus are used to study the influenceof two different compaction conditions on soil water characteristic curve of unsaturated remolded clay.The same dry density can correspond to different initial moisture contents in the compaction curves which are used to test the soil water characteristic curves.We can also get different types of dry density by changing the times of compaction when the compaction water content is the optimum moisture content on the initial conditions.Van Genuchten model and Fredlund and Xing model are employed to fit the soil water characteristic curve.The results show that the model can fit into the experimental data well.The result also shows that the higher compaction dry densities,the higher air entry values are and that the higher compaction water content,the better plasticity of the sample is,the higher air entry value is.
