Abstract
According to the salinity continuous observation data of 15 stations from 1981 to 2005,and combining 2 stations' 27 hours continuous observation salinity data in 1996 and 5 stations' day observation salinity data with high, middle and low water level in Pearl River Estuary, the temporal and spatial variation characteristics of salinity in recent years was analyzed. The results show that the trend of salinity rising or coming down is not obvious over the period form 1981 to 2005.The content of surface salinity is the lowest, and the bottom salinity is highest in the vertical spatial distribution in Pearl River Estuary based on many survey data. The characteristic of salinity gradually decreased form downstream to upstream in the horizontal distribution is very obviously.
