Abstract

Objective To prode causes,clinical characteristics and diagnosis of 83 cases with fever of unknown origin(FUO). Methods There 80 cases with FUO hospitalized in 1998~2006 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Forty-six cases were with infectious diseases(55.4%),including 30 bacterial infection cases,9 tuberculosis cases and 7 viral infection cases.Fifteen cases were with tumour disease(18.1%),including 6 lymphoma cases.Thirteen rheumatic disease cases(15.7%),including 3 adult Still's disease cases,3 SLE cases ses. Conclusion The major etiological diagnosis of the fever of unknown origin is infectious diseases,neoplastic disease and beriberoid disease.The clinician should find out the cause of the disease for making accurate diagnosis.
