Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between insulin resistance and blood lipids level in children with simple obesity. Methods Fifty cases of children with simple obesity were assigned as obesity group(23 male and 27 female),and 30 cases of healthy children as healthy control group(14 male and 16 female). The weight and height of each child were measured with the same platform scale, and body mass index(BMI) was calculated.Blood pressure was measured using the standard protocol of children, and luminescence immunoassay, rapid test for blood sugar were used to determine the blood glucose, insulin and blood lipid level. The homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR),the homeostasis model assessment insulin sensitivity index (HOMA-ISI),the area under the curve(AUC),and the fasting blood glucose/fasting insulin(FINS/FBG) were calculated.SPSS 12.0 software was used to analyze the data. Results HOMA-IR,AUC and FINS/FBG in obesity group were statistically higher than those in healthy control group (t=3.939,6.314,3.723,Pa0.01).Triglyce-rides(TG) in obesity group was statistically higher than that in healthy control group(t=2.573,P0.05).High-density lipoproteins(HLD) and HOMA-ISI in obesity group were significantly lower than those in healthy control group(t=-2.982,-4.75,P0.05,0.01).There were statistically positive correlation between TG and HOMA-IR,AUC,FINS/FBG(r=0.392,0.553,0.371,Pa0.05),and negatively correlated to HOMA-ISI(r=-0.392,P0.05).Conclusions Children with simple obesity may have metabolic disorder of blood lipids, and serum TG is closely linked to insulin resistance.Elevated blood lipids in obese children can affect the insulin sensitivity.
