Abstract
[Objective]To understand the concentrations of benzene series in the air of workplace in a construction tunnel,so as to prevent health hazards caused by combined effect of benzenes and other factors.[Methods]The characteristic spots were selected as the survey places. The active carbon tube and GC-MS apparatus were used to test 4 operating spots.[Results]Benzene, toluene, xylene and ethylbenzene were detected from the workplace in the construction tunnel. Most kinds of benzene series were detected in connecting corridor, with high concentration. The peak concentration of benzene, toluene, xylene and ethylbenzene was 1.51 mg / m3,0.36 mg/m3,0.08 mg/m3 and 0.11 mg / m3.[Conclusion]Although the concentrations of benzene series in different spots are lower than the national standards, the potential risk of occupational hazards result from combined effect of multiple pollutants should never be underestimated
