Abstract

The esterase isozymes of 30 tetraploid wheat landraces (T.Turgidum L.) from Sichuan were studied. The results are as follows: Significant differences of esterase isozymes are detected in all of seedlings, flag leaves and young spikes. There are 12 zymogram types with 14 bands in seedlings, 13 types with 15 bands in flag leaves, and 11 types with 13 bands in young spikes. The three tests amount to 21 zymogram types altogether. However, polymorphic index (PI) of flag leaves is the highest in the three tests, namely 01119. The result indicates the esterase isozymes of flag leaves express various genotype genetic polymorphism much better than the others. In this study, two Bangbangnanmai and two Zaozuo from the same original places with different primitive numbers respectively, are regarded as different varieties, because of the different esterase isozymes.
