Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of irbesartan combined with amlodipine treatment for elderly patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Methods 90 cases with hypertension and type 2 diabetes were randomly divided into three groups,30 patients in control group A were treated with oral irbesartan,30 patients in control group B were treated with oral amlodipine, and 30 patients in observation group were given irbesartan combined with amlodipine, all the patients were treated for 12 weeks. The total effective rate and the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein were compared among the three groups, while the heart rate, blood, urine, liver and kidney function, and adverse reactions were monitored after treatment. Results After a course of treatment, ther was no significant difference in the total effective rate between control group A and control group B(P0.05),the total efficiency of observation group was higher than those of control group A and control group B(P0.05),the rates of adverse events in the three groups had no significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion Irbesartan combined with amlodipine in elderly hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes has good efficacy with few adverse events.
