Abstract
Objective Study on the correlation between the expression of proteinase-activated receptor-1(PAR-1) and the metastasis of lung carcinoma. Methods PAR-1 expression levels of 80 cases of surgically resected lung carcinoma were examined by immunohistochemistry. The results were analyzed by morphometric methodology combined with the clinicopathologic profiles. Results Of the 80 cases,59 cases were positive for the expression of PAR-1(73.8%).The positive percentage of PAR-1 expression of the metastasis group(85.7%,48/56) was significantly higher(p0.01) than that of the non-metastasis group(45.8%,11/24).Morphometry demonstrated that mean optical density levels of PAR-1 expressions of the metastatic group (7.84±6.11) were significantly higher(p0.05) than that of non-metastatic group(4.48±2.59).There were obviously significance(p0.01) respectively between the primary carcinoma(6.505±3.086) and metastasis(10.827±2.20),the carcinoma(6.505±3.086) and the lung the tissues adjacent to the carcinoma(2.91±1.97).Conclusions PAR-1 may play an important role in the progressive processes and contribute to the malignant phenotype and the processes of metastasis in human lung carcinoma.
