Abstract

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of Measles in Changzhou city and to evaluate the effect of the current strategies on Measles control.Method: The reported measles cases were analyzed with epidemiological description during 2003~2004,including case investigation and laboratorial results analysis.Result: The average incidence was 1.69 cases per 100,000 people during 2003~2004.The reported Measles cases distributed in all 7 districts in which featured by the pattern of highly sporadic.Seasonal distribution of Measles was very noticeable and 90.60% of all the cases occurred between January to May.The age groups with high incidence were 0~8 months old and adults(≥18 years old),which counted for 22.22% and 39.32% respectively in all Measles cases. The cases in floating population covered 49.57% in all cases. Conclusions: Launching the vaccination campaign toward the population before marriage with MV or MMR should be considered, which would instigate the fact of polarized trends of Measles incidence in age range. On the other hand,it should be further strengthened the management for floating population.
