Abstract

The controlled water level of impounding scheme in September is a good method to decrease the risk of super flood in the impoundment period ahead of design schedule. With the increase of the service time of reservoir, the sediment deposition can cause big loss of reservoir volume which will affect the confirmation of the controlled water levels in September greatly. In this paper, the controlled water levels in September are studied by considering the impact of sediment deposition. It is shown that, comparing with the original controlled water levels without considering the impact of sediment deposition, the impounding scheme of controlled water levels with considering the impact of sediment deposition can decrease the risk of flood control deeply.Though the benefit of power generation decreases at the same time, the amount of decreased power generation is very small.
