Abstract

Objective:To develop a spectrophotometric method for the determination of aluminum in drinking water.Method:A novel hemicyanine was synthesized firstly, then its chromogenic response toward aluminum ion was studied. Results:Under the optimized condition, the absorbance of this system at 513 nm is linear with the concentration of Al3+ in the range of 6.0 μg/L~100 μg/L.The linear equation of calibration curve was △A=0.00502+0.00463CAl3+ with a correlation coefficient of 0.9990.The detection limit was 3.8 μg/L.The average recoveries were in the range of 98%~104% and the RSD was less than 4.0%.Conclusion:This method is suited for the determination of aluminum in drinking water.
