Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of the chemotherapy regimen FOLFOX6 for the patients with advanced squamous-cell carcinoma of esophagus. Methods 22 patients with advanced esophagus carcinoma were treated by FOLFOX6 regimen.FOLFOX regimen consisted of 2-hour infusion of oxaliplatin(100 mg/m2) and 2-hour infusion of leucovorin(CF)(400 mg/m2)on the first day, followed by 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) bolus(400 mg/m2) on the first day and 46-hour infusion(2.4~3 g/m2) used by chemotherapy pump.FOLFOX6 regimen was repeated at 2-week interval. The clinical efficacy and adverse events were evaluated and compared with 13 patients treated by PCF regimen(Cisplatin,d1;5-FU,d1-5).Results The overall response rates(OR) of the FOLFOX6 group and PF group were 77.27% and 61.53%,respectively;and the median survival time was 10.8 months and 7.1 months, respectively. There were significant differences between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion FOLFOX6 regimen can be used in treating advanced esophagus carcinoma for its efficacy and less toxicity and improved quality of Life.
