Abstract

Objective To evaluate the safety of needle biopsy of the prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound. Methods A total of 236 patients with suspected prostate cancer were performed biopsy of the prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound and followed up. Results Of 236 patients,205 patients had no severe pain during the biopsy.After operation,there were 35 cases of hematuria,2 cases of hematospermia,5 case of fever,5 cases of pollakisuria and urodynia,2 cases of uroschesis,2 cases of nausea and vomiting.All these disappeared after corresponding treatment. Conclusion Needle biopsy of the prostate guided by transrectal ultrasound is safe and accurate,and it is one of the most important methods in diagnosis of prostate cancer.
