Study on the Resources and Application in Landscape of Autumn Color Leaf Plants in Beijing

The resources of autumn color leaf plants and their phenological change of leaf color were surveyed and their ornamental grades were evaluated. The results show that there are about 85 kinds of autumn color leaf plants in Beijing, among which 28 species have the highest ornamental value including Ginkgo biloba, Fraxinus americana 'Autum Purple' and so on. The ornamental period of Sophora japonica 'Cuchlnensis' was the earliest and its ornamental period was the longest. The ornamental period of Viburnum carlesii and Euonymus grandiflorus was the latest. The plants that have a quite long ornamental duration included about 12 species, they are Acer ginnala, Spiraea japonica and so on. Based on the investigation, the analysis and discussions of the landscape application of autumn color leaf plants are conducted.
