Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of Ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761 on apoptosis of HeLa cell induced by tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).Methods MTT method was used to observe the effect of EGb761 on HeLa cell growth.Flow cytometry and Hoechst 33258 fluorescent staining were used to detect the effect of EGb761 on the apoptosis of HeLa cell induced by rhTNF-α.Results The result of MTT detection showed that EGb761 had no effects on HeLa cell growth within 5.0~80 mg/L final concentration. The result of flow cytometry and Hoechst 33258 fluorescent staining exhibited that EGb761 with 10~40 mg/L final concentration had notable inhibition but not absolute inhibition on the apoptosis of HeLa cell induced by rhTNF-α(P0.01) and it showed dose-dependence.Conclusion The apoptosis of HeLa cell induced by rhTNF-α can be efficiently inhibited by EGb761.
