Abstract
Combined the design and implementation of a virtual signal generator,the basic concept,developmental status and principal properties of virtual instrument technique is introduced.Comparison between virtual instrument and traditional instrument in the aspect of the performance and maintenance is carried out.The virtual instrument design method and the implementation technique based on Labwindows/CVI platform is illustrated by developing a virtual signal generator.The application of virtual instrument in the field of testing is discussed,and its promising prospect is also demonstrated.
