Contact insecticide efficacy tests of five kinds of pesticides and coating trapping- tree trunk with pesticide paste ring for controlling beetles of Monochamus alternates

The effectiveness of five kinds of pesticides for controlling the beetles of Monochamus alternates was tested in the laboratory and the field. Results showed that the toxicities of the five insecticides on M.alternates adults were different. The order of the toxicity( LC50) of different insecticides was as follows:1. 2% nicotine plus matrine( LC50= 708. 38 mg / L) 1% matrine plus azadirachtin( LC50=765. 61 mg / L) 0. 4% cnidiadin( LC50= 2581. 70 mg / L) 1. 3% matrine( LC50= 7043. 66 mg / L) 0. 5% veratrine( LC50= 8314. 31 mg / L). The toxicities( KT50) of 1. 2% nicotine plus matrine and1% matrine plus azadirachtin were 38. 24 min and 73. 73 min. The two most effective pesticides,1. 2%nicotine plus matrine( Vaseline 10) and 1% matrine plus azadirachtin( Vaseline 10), achieved control efficiencies approximate 8% cypermethrin( WL 200) after application. Results indicated that thus botanical pesticide could be used as a substitute insecticide of cypermethrin in the control of M.alternates to delay the appearance of insect pest resistance.
