Analysis of TCM diseases and syndromes in clinical research based on the literature research

Objective: To analyze TCM diseases and syndromes in clinical research based on the literature research published in journals.Methods: TCM clinical research literatures published from January 2007 to June 2013 in CNKI and VIP databases were searched.And frequency statistics on the basis of standardized organizing the name of diseases,syndromes and symptom factors in TCM and western medicine were performed.Results: 2 771 literatures were totally included.The main TCM diseases in sequence were pectoral pain and stuffiness,dizziness,epigastric pain,etc.The main diseases in western medicine in sequence were coronary heart disease,non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus,hypertension,etc.The main TCM syndromes in sequence were syndrome of deficiency of both qi and yin,blood stasis syndrome,deficiency of liver-kidney yin syndrome,etc.The main disease locations of syndrome factor in sequence were kidney,spleen,liver,etc.The main disease natures of syndrome factors in sequence were qi deficiency,blood stasis,heat,etc.Conclusion: Currently,the most popular TCM clinical research was disease differentiation of western medicine combined with TCM syndrome differentiation.The biggest problem was disunity of the criteria of TCM syndrome differentiation.However,syndrome differentiation based on syndrome factors could effectively avoid the standard syndrome type problems,which could bring new chance for the clinical diagnosis and treatment in TCM and scientific research.
