Clinicopathologic analysis on primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma

Abstract

Objective: To study the clinicopathologic character of primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL). Methods: The pathologic features of 3 patients were observed, and all cases were studied with immunohistochemistry staining for antibody of CD45, CD3, CD20, CD30, EMA, HMB45, et al ( ABC method). Results: The patients were aged from 26 to 32 years (mean 28.7 years). All patients presented with subcutaneous masses. Histopatholoically, the lesions were composed of anaplastic pleomorphic cells with abundant cytoplasm, and large nucleus with distinct nucleolus. Immunohistochemically , all cases showed positive for CD30 and negative for CD45RO and CD3. Conclusions: Primary cutaneous ALCL is a morphologically and clinically distinctive neoplasm. This tumor can be differentiated from other malignant tumors in histopathologic features and significant positivity for CD30.
