Abstract

With the development of automotive industry and urban traffic, the number of motor vehicles owned by urban residents is increasing day by day.The total power of motor vehicles is,according to foreign statistical data,20 times larger than the total power of other power mechanisms, and the noise radiated from them accounts for about 75% of the whole ambient noise energy. As shown by a variety of surveys and measuring results, the urban traffic noise is the most predominant noise source in the urban environment now. Therefore, reduction in the own noise of motor vehicles is an essential way to reduce the urban ambient noise. Our company has applied noise reduction measures to new cars to meet the requirements of the noise limit. These measures have so far demonstrated a good effect. This paper analyzes the noise of motor vehicles, and describes the corresponding noise reduction technical measures that have been taken and the country's method for measuring the noise of motor vehicles, which are for reference only.
