Abstract
This paper discusses two aspects of commercial vehicle noise. The first is the use of close fitting noise shields to reduce engine noise. In conjunction with this the problems of reducing the noise of a medium truck to 80 DBA are discussed. The second is commercial vehicles rolling noise. A series of measurements on different surfaces and vehicles have been made to define the level and some of the characteristics of this noise source. It is concluded that close fitting noise shields are a useful method of reducing engine noise, but that there are still problems in achieving any major reduction of vehicle noise. /AUTHOR/
