The relationship between nm23-H_1 gene expression and lymph node metastasis of the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To understand the relationship between the expression of nm23-H 1 gene and lymph node metastasis in the tissue of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Method The expression of nm23-H 1 protein was examined in 26 ESCC without lymph node metastasis and 28 with lymph node metastasis using immunohistochimical S-P method Results Fourteen of 26 ESCC without lymph node metastasis and 14 of 23 ESCC with lymph node metastasis were positive for nm23-H 1 staining while the nm23-H 1 protein average positive rates were 39.6% and in ESCC without lymph node metastasis and 17.2% in ESCC with lymph node metastasis respectively.Conclusion The expression was not correlated with lymph node metastasis,but reduced expression of nm23-H 1 gene was associated with lymph node metastasis. [
