Research on the bioactive substances of marine microorganisms

Because of the varieties of the marine microorganism resource and the specificities of the bioactive substances produced by marine microorganisms, the marine microorganisms are of a great potential to produce the bioactive substances. The marine microorganisms can produce many bioactive substances which are different from that produced by terrestrial organisms. These bioactive substances can act as the important resources of the marine medicine. Some studies confirmed that bioactive substances mainly include the toxins, new antibiotics, antitumoral agents, unsaturated fatty acids, enzyme, enzyme inhibitors, vitamins etc. In this dissertation, the current development and researches status of the marine microorganisms and the bioactive substances from marine microorganisms were summarized according to the studies and references in China and abroad. It also looked into the future of researches and development of the marine microorganisms and the bioactive substances.
