Reviving the value and function of "metaphor" in the humanism education

To humanism education, metaphor is not only of methodological significance, but also more importantly of ontological significance. If language is home of the mind, metaphor rather than logic will be the principal and primary mode of existence for the human spirit. When metaphor becomes barren, the mind of humanism will be closed. When the knowledge of humanities is expressed in exact and neutral language, when the teachers of humanities lose ability to use metaphors and take humanities as science education, our humanism education will be losing attraction. One important aspect of wisdom in the classical humanism education lies in its use of metaphors. Modern humanism education, therefore, should pass on such language codes and revive the value and function of metaphor, enabling our humanism education to become humanized instead of mechanical.
