Abstract

Objective To evaluate the expression of CD151 in human breast cancer and its relations with the occurrence and development and metastasis and prognosis of breast cancer. Methods By using immunohistochemical S-P method, the expression of CD151 protein in breast cancer tissue microarray(TMA) was tested. The correlations with clinicopathological features were analyzed.Comparison between qualitative data was performed by Chi-square test. The difference was considered significant(P0.05).Results The positive rate of CD151 expressions was 0.0%(0/39)in normal breast tissue,33.3%(10/30)in tissues of carcinoma in situ and 59.0%(59/100) in cancerous tissues respectively. The difference of the protein expression rate among the three groups was significant(χ2=41.276,P=0.000).The CD151 expression in invasive breast cancer tissues wasn't associated with patient's ages, and the histological type(P0.05).But it was significantly related with tumor size and ER/PR expression, differentiated degree of cancer tissue, lymph node metastasis and TNM(P0.05).Conclusions The expression of CD151 was over expressed in breast carcinoma, which suggested that the protein was related to carcinogenesis, development, invasion and metastasis.Detection the maker can be used to determine the biological behavior and prognosis of breast cancer. In particular,it would be more valuable on the breast cancer with ER(-)/PR(-).
