On Formative Assessment and Improving College Students'Independent English-Learning Ability

The paper discusses the problems in the process of improving college students' independent English-learning ability with formative assessment.The author holds that formative assessment,putting emphasis on assessing learning process,provides timely feedbacks for teachers and students.Applying formative assessment to College English teaching can effectively make up for the disadvantages of traditional assessment system and improve students' independent learning ability.
